BodBot comes from over two years of work by Harvard and Columbia-graduated fitness experts, both of whom experienced their own body transformations from emaciation and obesity to college athletics. Fitness changed their lives in a fundmental way. It is absolutely central to their lives and they have studied it for over 20 years in total. BodBot's algorithm is based on cutting edge research and tried-and-true techniques; together. Its founders have the experience, education, and passion for fitness necessary to make BodBot the quasi-futuristic product that it is.
It does indeed. The BodBot BodBlog has our thoughts on fitness and nutrition, from a scientific, sociological, and psychological perspective.

My Fitness Plan
Head on down to our settings page.
Go to our settings page and click on "Muscles." When choosing to focus on muscles, note that we try to create balance across the muscles and joints of your body. By specializing - unlesss you focus on a known weakness - your training plan may become less efficient, and, over time, potentially lead to imbalances. That said, you command this ship, and we'll help you build any kind of body you want.
Go to our settings page and click on "Fitness Tests." You'll be asked to tell us your strength in certain exercises and flexiblity in certain movements. Each test is designed to identify imbalances and weaknesses that may lead to increased risk of injury or decreased performance - now and in the future.
Go to our settings page and click on "Preferences." Under "Are there any exercises you can't or won't perform?" click on "Exclude an exercise."
Go to our settings page and click on "Preferences." Under "Are there any body parts you would like to train more gently?" click on the bodypart you'd like to train more lightly.
Go to our settings page and click on "Equipment." Uncheck any of the equipment that you don't have.
Go to your training page and click on the "missed workout" link below the big blue "did it" button. BodBot is completely adaptive, it will adjust your plan accordingly.
Send us an email. We'll put it on the list of exercises to be added to BodBot's library
Send us an email. We'll +1 its importance on our list of goals to add.
BodBot is made to give you the best possible workout each and every time; as a result, during the first days we tend to recommend full-body workouts. However, as time progresses, your plan will naturally shift to split body parts between days.
Absolutely. Click "add exercise" at the top of your training page and pick your exercise. Then hover over the exercise and click the pin icon that shows up. Now BodBot will recommend the exercise every week on that day of the week.
Add weight to your body to make the exercise difficult enough that the recommended reps is difficult. This can be done through a belt+dumbell/plate, a weight vest, chains, or a backpack filled with books/cans, among others.
If the exercise is too easy (i.e. you can do more reps than BodBot has recommended,) you should add weight so that the recommended reps is difficult. This can be done through a belt+dumbell/plate, a weight vest, chains, or a backpack filled with books/cans, among others. If you don't need to add weight, just leave the weight input blank.
BodBot greatly prefers compound exercises in its workout recommendations as they are more efficient in improving an individual's overall fitness. That said, you will see isolation exercises more often if you decide to focus on the corresponding muscle in our muscle map.
Nope! BodBot will consider all of the work you've done so far in the plan it recommends to you.
Nope! Just let BodBot know and it will consider all of the work you've done so far in the plan, take into account how long you've been out, and adapt your plan accordingly.

Your level indicates how much of an unstoppable force of fitness you are. You get points for completing workouts, goals, supporting people, etc. If you're one of the top points earners for the week, you'll get featured on our motivation page. Earn points, get acclaim, conquer your body!
Our motivation page shows you the BodBot community. You get to support friends, compete with friends, see/comment on what workouts your supportees and people with similar goals to yours have been doing, and much more.
We're all in this together! You'll see others' progress. You'll see the workouts completed by people whom you are supporting and people who have similar goals to you. You'll also see their completed goals, level/point accomplishments, and more.
Well, you're in luck. We do send emails each day you've got a workout. Also, if you use Chrome, our Chrome app gives you popup reminders when you have a workout. Grab it, you don't even have to leave this page to set it up.
Absolutely. Nutrition is critical to reaching health/fitness goals. We plan on hitting nutrition hard once we feel we've mastered training.
Please let us know! We'll fix it as soon as we can.
BodBot Mobile
iPhone, and Android, right now. Just search for "BodBot" in the App Store/Google Play, and get to downloading!
Soon, hopefully! Windows Phone is next on our list right now. Let us know what phone you're using and we'll +1 the importance of getting an app out for yours.
Tap anywhere on the photo of the exercise, instructions and a video will show up for your exercise.
This is not possible on BodBot Mobile, but will be in a future release. For now, you can do so on BodBot.com
This is a known bug and will be fixed in the next update of the iPhone and Android apps. For now, force shut down your app and restart it. A force app shut down is possible on iPhone by double-clicking the home hardware button, tapping and holding onto the BodBot icon, and tapping on the red "close" icon. On Android, go to "Settings" -> "Applications" -> "BodBot" -> "Force stop."
Just tap on the white card that has the performance information. It will turn into an input form and you'll be able to edit the information.
This is a known bug on certain Android devices and will be fixed in the next update of the Android app.

You cannot. However, you can edit them on BodBot.com's settings page, which is far more easy to use than anything that would exist on the phone (due to the complexity of our settings.)

Of course, that said, we always want to keep a strong free service tier. At the end of the day, we don't want to gate the product from those who might not be able to pay for it. We know how much of an impact fitness has had on our lives, and we want to make sure everyone has the same opportunity to reach their fitness goals.
BodBot is an aspirational service, about becoming the superhero version of yourself through optimal workouts. All our models - male and female - are athletes, and were hand picked to support our aspirational vision; understated equipment and form-fitting clothing were also chosen to show off our athletes' impressive physiques.
